Keep in mind that you are not the only person staying in your hotel. When you are at the hotel, do not slam doors, nor be so loud that you disturb others. Even mid-day, someone may be napping or recovering from a bad case of jet lag. Don't feel you need to tip-toe around, but try to keep noise to a reasonable level.

Pack travel candles in your luggage if you plan on staying at a hotel. This can help the smell of your room. Not only is it romantic, it will relax you and help you to fall asleep. A number of companies offer conveniently sized candles that don't drip wax.

You can often hook your computer to the television when staying at a hotel through the use of the cables. This will allow you to watch movies through your Netflix account, or streaming video, instead of ordering expensive pay-per-view movies offered through your hotel.

If the hotel that you want to stay at is booked, ask if they have any rooms that are out of service. Sometimes a hotel will classify a room as being out-of-service for minor cosmetic needs.

Make use of email alerts such as e-tracking when you book travel through online travel sites. It will keep you up to date with the cheapest way to travel. Email alerts will be sent to you if your travel interests has had a price drop or can be found elsewhere at a cheaper price.

Find out if you need a visa to get into the country you need to go to. Since obtaining a visa can be a time consuming process, try to do this well before your travel date. If you don't have the correct visa, you won't be allowed to enter some countries.

Before you travel, make copies of all your important travel documents. You need to copy your passport and other important documents, and keep them in another place. Leave copies with someone you can trust in case you lose the ones you are taking with you.

It's important to tip the housekeeper and bell station well. An appropriate tip is considered $1 for each piece of luggage you have, and $2-$5 per day for the housekeeping service. Doing this will not only show that you appreciated the work they did, but it will also foster a good relationship with them.

When driving for long periods, rotate drivers. Rotate drivers before you get tired, so that you will be awake enough to keep the other driver engaged in conversation. When you feel very tired, you shouldn't drive. Instead, try switching drivers every two to three hours. This will help all the drivers from getting so tired that they can't effectively drive.

Take turns at driving when you are traveling with others. If you drive until you are too tired to continue driving, the driver that takes your place will be alone for the trip while you sleep. Driving until you are exhausted is not a great idea. If possible, switch drivers every few hours. If you are the only driver, take frequent breaks. This stops any one driver from getting too tired.

Try to wear comfortable and light shoes when air traveling - shoes that you can slip out of easily. Remember that shoes need to come off at the security checkpoint. Being comfortable is the most important thing. While flying and navigating airport terminals, you will spend more time sitting than walking, and therefore you do not need tremendously supportive shoes. Ideally, you want to be wearing sandals or even flip-flops.
